UVA Law School Talk: Does the Fourteenth Amendment Prohibit Abortion?

What is the originalist interpretation of the Fourteenth Amendment with respect to the legal status of unborn human beings? If they are legal persons, would Justice Scalia be correct in that state laws could still permit abortions? Joshua Craddock will discuss his article, “Protecting Prenatal Persons: Does the Fourteenth Amendment Prohibit Abortion?” Professor Lois Shepherd, the co-director of Studies in Reproductive Ethics and Justice, will provide a response.
